Attention Parents, Don’t Make This Mistake At Christmas

I guess I am a rookie at this. This is the first year that my daughter understands what Christmas is. She gets that there is a Santa and that he brings all the little kids presents and we get together with family. I have been working hard to get her into the spirit by playing Christmas music, putting up the Christmas tree, and talking to her about what she would like Santa to bring her for Christmas. I even took her to the mall to visit Santa so she could tell him what she wants.

Early last month, we got in the mail the Toys R Us catalogue, which had a lot of great deals in it. I sat down with Ava and asked her to tell me what she would like from the catalogue. I circled everything that she pointed out because I knew that relatives would be asking me what she wanted, so this way I would have things to tell them when they asked. Out of all the toys in the catalogue, there was one toy that she really seemed fixated on. It was the Barbie airplane. I don’t know why she wanted it so badly, she has never seen it in the store or even played with it at a friend’s house, but she kept saying that was what she wanted Santa to bring her.

So, my husband and I thought it was cute and we would constantly ask her what she wanted from Santa, to which she would always reply, “Bawbie Aipane.” I have already bought Ava a lot of Christmas gifts, so when my mother-in-law asked what she should get her, I asked her if she would mind buying her the Barbie airplane. Someone had to get her that plane!

This week my mother-in-law ventured out to Toys R Us to purchase Ava’s Christmas present, and low and behold, there are no more left! Not only that, there aren’t any left in the whole province and the toy has been discontinued. Can someone say “Aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!” We checked at a few other stores, and it seems like everyone is out of stock. We even looked on ebay, and it seems like people are trying to take advantage of the situation and are selling this thing for over $100. No thanks!

I’ve come to terms that we are not going to be able to find this airplane for Christmas, but I can’t help but feel guilty for hyping it up to Ava. I never in a million years thought that we wouldn’t be able to get it. So, now I am trying to convince her that the Barbie Camper is a much better choice. I have some people in the States that can pick it up for me, so it looks like we will be going in that direction. But, note to self, “Do not promise gifts to your child that you have not already bought or are sure you will be able to get.” Lesson learned!

The New Term For A Cheating @#$%^&*!

Wow Tiger, You Really Do have It Rough!

Wow Tiger, You Really Do Have It Rough!

So…. Tiger Woods cheated on his wife. Now he has to explain it to the world. This morning he released a statement admitting that he was unfaithful to his wife, but I guess he has a hard time spitting it out, so a new word for cheaters has emerged. He has apparently made “transgressions” . I’ve never heard of this term before, so I decided to look it up. Here’s what I found on dictionary.com:

–verb (used without object)

1. to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.

–verb (used with object)

2. to pass over or go beyond (a limit, boundary, etc.): to transgress bounds of prudence.
3. to go beyond the limits imposed by (a law, command, etc.); violate; infringe: to transgress the will of God.

Okay, so Tiger Woods can make it sound however he likes, but he still did the nasty with multiple other women. Apparently, he complained to one of the women that marriage isn’t all it’s built up to be. Ummmm, yeah, that sure is the truth when you’re SLEEPING WITH OTHER WOMEN!!!!!! Oh boohoo Tiger, you get paid millions to play golf, you have a beautiful wife, and two healthy kids, and you still aren’t happy??? I seriously don’t get people sometimes. If I were in his shoes, I would be walking around with a huge smile on my face, and then I would go home and roll around in my money just because I can. Life is treating you pretty darn good, go get some marriage counseling and keep your peen in your pants!

Who Needs A Vacation? ME!

Before we had kids, my husband and I used to  go on vacation just about every year. When I say vacation, I mean taking a plane somewhere. Usually, we would go to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. We seem to prefer those styles of vacations because you get to really relax and you don’t have any surprises about the final cost of your trip. What you pay before you leave is pretty much what it will cost you, unless you tend to go on a lot of excursions. We usually do not go on any excursions, so we bring about $150 cash on us for tips and a couple of souvenirs, and that’s it!

Paradise
Paradise

Since we’ve had Ava, we’ve gone on one vacation, which is a lot more than other parents we know, so I am thankful that we got to go away. We went away last year to the Dominican Republic. Ava was 18 months old and we left her with my parents for the week while we went on vacation with a group of friends. We missed her a lot, but we definitely got some well deserved rest. I love being a mommy more than anything in the world, but I do appreciate those few times when I get to just focus on myself. It’s strange how it feels so good to know that you only have to worry about getting yourself ready to leave for dinner, or taking your time to shower in the morning because you don’t have anyone waiting for you to help them get ready. It’s the small things in life we take for granted.

With this being said, I am really craving a vacation, but this time I want it to be a family vacation. Even though I really want to relax, I want to experience traveling with Ava, and I want to take her around the world to see things that I never got to see as a kid. I will probably need another vacation as soon as we get back because I will be so tired from all the traveling with a toddler, but the memories we will make will be priceless.

I knew that we would not be going anywhere this year. My husband traveled to go to a good friend’s wedding this year, so that used up any vacation budget we would of had, but that’s okay, I was prepared to go a year without vacation. No biggie! Now, next year is a different story. I really am hoping that we can go somewhere in May, but if it doesn’t work out, at the very latest, I am hoping we can go away in the fall. The prices are always low at those two times of the year, so I am sure we can get a good deal.

Lately though I have been very tempted with some of the great deals out there. I have some relatives that are going away next week to the Dominican. The package they bought is now selling for $400 + tax, and kids get to go for free!!! OMG, it’s hard to resist that! That price includes flight, hotel, and transfers. I have no clue how they sell packages at that price, but I ain’t complaining! Hopefully, I will be able to find such a good deal when it’s time for us to book. It seems like I always find good deals online, EXCEPT for when I am actually looking to book something. It’s kind of like the same concept of when you go to the mall and you see so many nice things that you want to buy, but you can’t afford it. Then, when you actually have money to spend, you can’t find anything you like. Why is that???? Am I the only one that experiences this?

Well, as I sit here trying to resist the urge to call the travel agent, I am wishing that my dreams of going on a family vacation next year will come true. Only time will tell…… or if maybe some travel company offers me a free trip in exchange for reviewing it on my site????? Hey! I can dream, can’t I!!!!!
